The traditional artwork of Rangoli needs no introduction. It is a creative expression where you can create colorful patterns. Generally, people stick to specially available colors for this purpose or take help from flower petals in different colours. But you would be surprised to know that the mother-daughter duo has put a foodie twist to their rangoli. Yes, you read that right. Sudha Ravi and her daughter Rakshita have made a 6 by 6 meter rangoli using 26,000 ice cream sticks. And, he made it into the Singapore Book of Records.

The duo presented a rangoli during a cultural program organized as part of the ongoing Pongal festival at the Little India campus last week. It is to be noted that Sudha is already listed in the record books for making a rangoli of 3,200 square feet in 2016. Let us discuss the Rangoli made by him. The artwork, which took about a month to complete, portrays notable Tamil scholar-poets Thiruvalluvar, Avvaiyar, Bharathiyar and Bharathidasan. It coincides with the celebration of their works by Kalamanjari, a Tamil cultural organization that organized the event, and the Little India Shopkeepers and Heritage Association (LISHA).
“Kalamanjari and the team put on a vocal performance on these scholarly songs,” said Soundara Nayaki Vairavan, founder of Kalamanjari, which promotes Tamil literary works through music and dance.
