Indian-origin gangster shot dead by unknown people in Canada’s Vancouver

By India Today World Desk: In a suspected case of gang rivalry, a 28- year -old man originally from Punjab was shot dead by unknown assailants outside a wedding venue in Vancouver, Canada. The incident happened early Sunday morning.

Amarpreet (Chucky) Samra was coming out of Fraserview Banquet Hall with other wedding guests when he was shot, according to the local news daily Vancouver Sun.

Samra and his older brother, Ravinder, who is also a gangster, were invited to the wedding. Other guests at the wedding ceremony told the media that some unidentified men walked into the hall and ordered the DJ to stop the music.

Around 60 guests were present at the venue when the murder took place.

“Multiple 911 callers reported one man had been shot outside a South Vancouver banquet hall near Fraser Street and South East Marine Drive at 1:30 am. Patrol officers performed CPR on the victim until paramedics arrived, but he died from his injuries,” the police said in its statement.

After the prima- facie investigation, police believe the gruesome murder was a result of inter-gang rivalry. However, the detailed investigation is still going on, according to the police.

Earlier in August 2022, Canadian police issued a rare warning about 11 gangsters linked to inter-gang violence. The police also warned the public to avoid coming close to them. Out of the 11 gangsters mentioned in the warning, nine were of Indian origin, including Amarpreet and his brother Ravinder.

The British Columbia Police in its statement said they were linked to multiple killings and shootings in the province.
