Indian Railways revenue up 38 per cent to Rs 95,486.58 crore by August-end India News – Times of India

New Delhi: Total revenue of Indians railway 95,486.58 crore at the end of August 2022, showing an increase of Rs 26,271.29 crore or 38 per cent over the corresponding period last year, an official statement said on Sunday.
Revenue from passenger traffic was Rs 25,276.54 crore, an increase of Rs 13,574.44 crore (116 per cent) on a year-on-year basis.
There has also been an increase in passenger traffic in both reserved and unreserved sections as compared to last year. Railways said that the growth of long distance reserved mail express trains has been faster than passenger and suburban trains.
Other coaching revenue stood at Rs 2,437.42 crore, an increase of Rs 811.82 crore (50 per cent) over the corresponding period last year.
This is due to the strong growth in the parcel segment of the Indian Railways, the statement said.
Goods revenue increased by Rs 10,780.03 crore (or 20 per cent) to Rs 65,505.02 crore at the end of August this year.
This has been achieved through an incremental loading of over 58 MT and an 18 per cent increase in Net Tonne-Kilometers (NTKM) during this period. Apart from coal transport, food grains, fertilisers, cement, mineral oil, container transport and other goods segments have contributed significantly to this growth.
It said miscellaneous revenue was Rs 2,267.60 crore, which shows an increase of Rs 1105 crore or 95 per cent over the corresponding period of the previous year.
The total revenue of Railways during the entire last financial year (2021-22) stood at Rs 1,91,278.29 crore.
