Indian researchers developed N95 mask with nanoparticle coating using 3D printing technology: Center

New Delhi Researchers from Amity University (Haryana) have developed a reusable, reusable, washable, odourless, non-allergic and anti-microbial N95 mask using 3D printing technology. The Union Ministry of Science and Technology on Monday said that the four-layer mask whose outer layer is made of silicon has a shelf life of more than 5 years depending on its use.

The ministry said that they collaborated with the University of Nebraska, USA to develop this product, which has immense potential as a prophylactic.

The ministry said that apart from its well-known uses to prevent infections like COVID 19, the mask can also be used by workers in various industries where they are exposed to high amounts of dust such as cement factories, brick kilns, cotton factories and pain industries. come in contact with. in the statement.

“It can be modified as needed by changing the filter configuration according to the location where it will be used and can help prevent serious lung diseases such as silicosis. A trademark and a patent have also been filed for a mask called NanoBreath. has been done,” the government said.

The mask has a 4-layer filtration mechanism in which the outer and first layer of the filter is covered with nanoparticles. The second layer is a high-efficiency particulate absorbing (HEPA) filter, the third layer is a 100 micron filter and the fourth layer is a moisture absorbing filter.

A Zetasizer Nano ZS, supported by the ‘Fund for Improvement of Science and Technology Infrastructure’ (FIST) project of the Department of Science and Technology (DST), which enables high-temperature thermal analysis for ceramic materials and catalysis applications, was utilized Let’s get this work done.

It is a high-performance, versatile system for measuring particle size, zeta potential, molecular weight, particle dynamics and micro-rheology, the government statement said.
