Indian restaurant ‘Chai Pani’ serves chaat, vada pav and is voted best in America

India is known for its diverse food delicacies which are served in famous Indian restaurants across the world. Traditional Indian curries and breads are popular in various countries for their use of aromatic herbs and spices. This love for Indian cuisine has further expanded to street-style specialties like bhel puri, tikki, chaat, vada pav and more. Chai Pani, an Indian restaurant serving street-style food, has been voted as the best restaurant in America. Located in Downtown Asheville, North Carolina, this eatery has been named America’s Most Outstanding Restaurant at the James Beard Foundation Awards in Chicago.

Snack Corner in New Orleans defeated Brennan to claim the top title. ‘Chai Pani’ is famous for serving street food items like Aloo Tikki Chaat, Sweet Potato Chaat, Bhel Puri, Pav Bhaji, Chicken Pakora at nominal prices. Apart from snacks, the restaurant also serves fusion wraps, burgers, a variety of North Indian and South Indian thalis, bowls and desserts in its menu. see below:

The restaurant’s first outlet opened in Asheville in 2009 and is run by five-time James Beard-nominated chef Mehrwan Irani. It has now spread to seven locations, including Charlotte in North Carolina, Decatur in Georgia, and Atlanta in Georgia.

During her award acceptance speech, Irani talked about restaurants having the power to change the world. He said, “Restaurants are much more than the sum of the inside of four walls. A restaurant has the power to change the people who work there, change the people who come there, change the communities they live in, change the society.”
