Jamshedpur FC continued their unbeaten run in the season as they thrashed Mohun Bagan for their second consecutive defeat in a 2-1 win. Indian Super League (ISL) on Monday. With this win, Jamshedpur moved up to second place in the points table while Mohun Bagan slipped to fifth place. Semillen Dongel (37th) opened the men of steel with a fine finish from the right flank. Alex Lima (84th) scored the second goal after coming on as a substitute late in the second half.

Pritam Kotal (89th) pulled back once for MB but it ended too late to impress the final scoreline.

Ashutosh Mehta and Sumit Rathi made it to the starting lineup for Mohun Bagan. For Jamshedpur FC, Peter Hartley opened the game against the Mariners, with Pranay Halder also in the field and Alex Lima starting off the bench.

Owen Coyle fielded a 4-4-2 formation, while Antonio Lopes Habas chose his tried-and-tested 3-4-3 formation.

Rai Krishna scored the equalizing goal in the 40th minute. His shot from a narrow angle missed the catch of TP Rehenesh and was rolling inside the goal but Eli Sabia was quick to react and took the ball off the line.

Just before half-time, Boris Singh replaced goal scorer Dongel, who had to leave the pitch due to an ankle injury.

Roy Krishna received a yellow card for a challenge on Hartley which caused some pain to Hartley.

The second half started on a poor note as both the teams struggled to create clear scoring opportunities.

At the hour mark, Habas brought in Prabir Das for Rathi and David Williams for McHugh to gain energy and new footing on the pitch.

In the 67th minute, a brilliant volley from Jitendra Singh was bravely blocked by the MB defender.

There was a major controversy at the stroke of the 73rd minute, when Prannoy Halder brought down Hugo Baumus, who was heading towards the target without a challenge. He received a yellow card for the offense and Baumos also received a yellow card for pushing Halder in retaliation for the tackle.

Stewart and Rehenesh received yellow cards for unnecessary delay in proceedings.

Alex Lima took his place on the pitch from the bench, replacing Stewart and the Brazilian scored within seconds of entering the field.

A left footed shot to the left from the edge of the penalty box did not give Amarinder any chance to save.

Later, goalkeeper TP Rehneesh defended a cross from the left flank inside the box but his clearance was caught by Ashutosh Mehta. Pritam Kotal leaps forward to put the ball in the back of the net. JFC appealed for an offside but the referee awarded the goal.

Jordan Murray and Narendra Gehlot also played small roles off the bench before the final whistle. Owen Coyle’s men defended their lead strongly and secured a crucial victory over last year’s runners-up.
