Discus thrower Navjit Kaur Dhillon failed to impress though she won a gold medal at the Kosanov Memorial Athletics Meet here on Saturday, putting a question mark on her Commonwealth Games selection.
Dhillon won the competition with a best throw of 56.24 metres. She won the gold medal at the National Inter-State Championships (10-14 June) in Chennai with a best effort of 55.67m.
Dhillon was included in the 36-man Indian athletics squad on 16 June, with his name riding against “subject to guidelines received in Kazakhstan”. CWG Qualification Guidelines prepared by the Athletics Federation India (AFI) is 58.00 meters for the women’s discus throw.
