Aircraft maker Boeing on Thursday said India’s air traffic is projected to see an annual growth of around 7 percent by 2040. Indian aviation is gaining momentum and is one of the fastest growing markets, Boeing Managing Director (Marketing) David Schulte said here.

According to him, India’s airlines will lead the air traffic growth by 2040, growing at 6.9 percent. According to Boeing, the market in Southeast Asia is estimated to grow by 5.5 per cent, followed by China (5.4 per cent), Africa (5.4 per cent) and Latin America (4.8 per cent).

This estimate is based on a horizon of more than 20 years and growth could be much higher in the near term. A large number of Boeing aircraft are being operated by Indian carriers. The Indian aviation sector is on the path of recovery after being badly hit by the coronavirus pandemic.
