India’s G20 presidency begins today, 100 monuments will be illuminated

New Delhi: India is all set to assume the chairmanship of the G-20 group from today. G-20 is the main forum for international economic cooperation.

To mark the occasion, 100 monuments including UNESCO World Heritage Sites bearing the G-20 logo will be illuminated for seven days from December 1 to December 7. From the Shankaracharya Temple in Srinagar to the Red Fort in Delhi to the great living Cholas of Thanjavur, temples, various monuments will be illuminated on the occasion.

The 100 sites that will be illuminated include Humayun’s Tomb and Purana Qila in Delhi, Modhera Sun Temple in Gujarat, Konark Sun Temple in Odisha and Sher Shah Suri’s Tomb in Bihar. India will host 200 meetings across nations in 32 different sectors during its G-20 chairmanship. However, India will aim for its next year’s summit to supply appropriate technology for sustainable environmental development and digital transformation of the country.

This was back in 1999 when the G-20 was established as a forum to help finance ministers and central bank governors discuss global economic and financial issues.

There are 19 countries that are part of the Group of Twenty (G-20). Includes (Argentina, Australia, Brazil, Canada, China, France, Germany, India, Indonesia, Italy, Japan, Republic of Korea, Mexico, Russia, Saudi Arabia, South Africa, Turkey, United Kingdom and United States) and European composition.

These members represent approximately 85 percent of global GDP. In addition, they represent more than 75 percent of global trade and nearly two-thirds of the world’s population. The group primarily focuses on “policy coordination among its members to achieve global economic stability, sustainable development”; To promote financial regulations that reduce risks and prevent future financial crises and create a new international financial structure.

For those unaware, India will host the G-20 leaders’ summit in New Delhi on September 9 and 10 in 2023 under its chairmanship. Sources say that the meetings will be held in those parts of the country where very little has been explored.

India will begin its chairmanship with the celebration of the Hornbill Festival in Nagaland. The current G-20 Chief Coordinator, Harsh Vardhan Shringla said, “India’s G-20 is an opportunity for the state of Nagaland to showcase its cultural diversity, uniqueness and tourism potential.”

Before India, Indonesia officially took over the presidency last year. G-20 Indonesia said on Twitter, “#G20BaliSummit 2022 marks the conclusion of the #G-20Indonesia Presidency. India will serve as the next holder of the G20 Presidency. The G20 will continue to move forward to realize a global recovery.” As well as strong and inclusive growth under India’s G20 Presidency.”

The website G20.org now reads ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam,’ One Earth. a family. a future Changes have been made in the website according to Indian belief and culture.

The logo, theme and website of India’s G-20 Presidency was revealed by Prime Minister Narendra Modi a few days ago and the logo featured a lotus which represents India’s ancient heritage, faith and thought.

The Prime Minister said, “The philosophy of Advaita emphasizes on the oneness of all beings and this philosophy will become the means of resolving today’s conflicts.”

He further said, “Buddha’s message for freedom from war, Mahatma Gandhi’s measures to deal with violence, India through G-20 is giving them a new height.”
