India’s GDP grew by 20.1% in the April-June quarter after the Kovid recession

New Delhi: Official data shows India’s economy grew 20.1 per cent in the first quarter of 2021-22, helped by a low base from the year-ago period.

According to the data released by the National Statistical Office (NSO), there was a decrease of 24.4 percent in the Gross Domestic Product (GDP) in the corresponding April-June quarter of 2020-21.

The government imposed a nationwide lockdown last year at the start of the COVID-19 pandemic.

China has registered a growth of 7.9 per cent in the April-June 2021 period.
