India’s investment in private wireless networks to reach $250 million by 2027: Report

According to a Nokia report, India’s investment in private wireless networks is expected to reach around $250 million by 2027.

The report said that in the last five years, mobile data usage in the country has seen an increase of almost three times.

Nokia’s annual Mobile Broadband Index (MBiT) report says there has been a significant uptick in venture investment, and a major uptake of 5G is forecasted in the second half of 2023.

“India’s Investment in Private wireless network expected to reach around $250 million by 2027,” the report said.

It has been told in the report that Mobile data traffic India has grown 3.2 times in the last five years. All-India mobile data usage per month to grow from 4.5 exabytes in 2018 to 14.4 exabytes in 2022.

Furthermore, the average data consumption per user has grown ‘exponentially’ since 2018, reaching 19.5 GB per user per month in 2022.

Average monthly data traffic per user was pegged at 9.7 GB in 2018, and is projected to grow at a 19 percent compound annual growth rate through 2022.

The Nokia report states that on an aggregated level, the total mobile data consumption in India is expected to more than double by 2024.

“The appetite and need for data in India is really huge,” said Amit Marwah, Head of Marketing and Corporate Affairs, Nokia India.

India is estimated to ship over 70 million 5G devices in 2022, underscoring a strong traction for it. 5G in the market.

Sanjay Malik, senior vice president and head of the Indian market at Nokia, said that India has seen tremendous growth in mobile broadband based on the successful deployment of 4G LTE (Long Term Evolution) networks.

“We believe that 5G will drive mobile broadband consumption in India to the next level by enabling new digital use cases for both the consumer and enterprise segments. It is essential that this growth is supported by India’s goal of becoming a trillion be managed in a sustainable way.-dollar digital economy,” Malik said.
