Indian two-wheeler maker LML Electric has signed a letter of intent to form a joint venture with German electric hyperbike manufacturer, eROCKIT AG. The Henigsdorf-based company will form a joint venture with LML to manufacture hyperhuman hybrids. Essentially, the eROCKIT electric bike comes with pedal assist. LML Electric will manufacture these models at its erstwhile Harley-Davidson facility in Haryana, with the models sold globally, including in India. The companies further announced that they plan to use their R&D and technical expertise to create several other products with eROCKIT in the future.

Commenting on the potential partnership, Dr Yogesh Bhatia, CEO, LML, said, “With this new jewel in LML’s crown, the power of technology, manufacturing prowess, and the disruptive consumer experience we are committed to offer, are fully embraced. This will bring a whole new dimension to LML, in addition to meeting the high level of expectations of our primary as well as secondary TGs. It will also be unique to millennials who have access to stories of LML’s “premature” products from their parents. No experience of LML other than hearing. So far. The pace of progress of LML is really beating our expectations and we couldn’t be more satisfied as this is no small achievement by any criteria.”

LML and eROCKIT are yet to reveal the specifications, pricing and availability of the eROCKIT electric bike

The eROCKIT “Hyper” bike is a pedal-powered, electric motorcycle. The company claims a top speed of 90 kmph and the model is backed by a battery and direct-drive motor. LML Electric says that it not only plans to industrialize the German electric hyper bike but also plans to make the model FAME-II compliant. The Indian variant of the eROCKIT hyper bike will be marketed by LML and will have an additional throttle assist to meet the CMVR homologation norms, apart from GPRS-linked telematics.

Given that the joint venture is still in its early stages, there is no word yet on when eROCKIT will enter production and make it into showrooms. The company is yet to share details on the plant’s capacity and retail operations as well as specifications and pricing. We expect more details to emerge once the joint venture is officially established.
