Domestic movement is expected to increase at Tiruchi airport.
Domestic passenger movement at Tiruchi airport is set to increase further with Indigo airline launching a service in the New Delhi-Tiruchi-New Delhi sector on Monday.
The airline will operate the new service in the sector on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Sundays. Airline sources said the flight from New Delhi will leave the national capital at 5.25 am and reach Tiruchi at 8.25 am. The flight will depart in the return direction. Reached Tiruchi at 2.25 pm and New Delhi at 5.20 pm
In between, the flight will leave Tiruchi for Colombo at 10.05 hrs and will reach the capital of the island nation at 10.55 hrs. It will depart Colombo at 11.55 hrs and reach Tiruchi at 12.45 hrs to fly to New Delhi. Sources said the airline will operate A-320 aircraft with a seating capacity of 180 in these areas.
New Delhi has become the fourth domestic destination to establish direct connectivity with Tiruchi. Indigo airline currently operates services from Tiruchi to Chennai, Bengaluru and Hyderabad. According to the Airports Authority of India data, Tiruchi airport handled more than 85,000 domestic passengers during the period April to November 2021.
