IndiGo to launch fight from Doni Polo airport in Arunachal to Delhi, Mumbai from November 28

IndiGo will start operating commercial flights from the newly built Donyi Polo Airport, Arunachal Pradesh’s first civilian airport, on November 28. Except Wednesday, the flights will operate every day from Hollongi, which is about 15 kilometers from Itanagar to Mumbai and Kolkata. On December 3, weekly flight service between Hollongi and Kolkata will start on Wednesday. It should be noted that the airport in the North Eastern region of India was recently completed and is now ready to start flight operations connecting metro cities.

In a statement, Sanjay Kumar, Chief Strategy and Revenue Officer, IndiGo said, “We are delighted to announce Itanagar (Hollongi), the 75th destination on the 6E network. This will be IndiGo’s first destination in Arunachal Pradesh.”

Developed by the Airports Authority of India (AAI) at an estimated cost of Rs 645 crore, Doni Polo Airport is designed as a greenfield with eight check-in counters, and is capable of accommodating 200 passengers during peak hours. would be able.

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will inaugurate the airport in November. At present, Itanagar has no airport, the nearest is Lilabari Airport, which is 80 km away in North Lakhimpur district of Assam. The state has a few Advanced Landing Grounds (ALGs) including Pasighat and Tezu.

Donyi Polo Airport will have a 2,300-metre long runway that will be suitable for landing and take-off of Boeing 747s. Spread over an area of ​​4,100 square meters, the airport will be equipped with all modern facilities for the passengers. The airport’s nomenclature reflects the reverence of the indigenous people or the Sun (Doni) and Moon (Polo) symbolizing the rich cultural heritage of the tribal-dominated state.
