Indira IVF will enter the international market by the end of this year

One of India’s largest fertility treatment chains, Indira IVF, backed by US-headquartered private equity fund TA Associates, has drawn out ambitious plans to expand overseas and has successfully co-co-parented 85,000 babies over the past 10 years. There are plans to repeat the story of domestic growth with Birth. India. In an interview, Dr Kshitij Mardia, CEO and Co-Founder, Indira IVF outlined the company’s growth plans and the major milestones achieved so far. Edited part.

What has been the growth journey of Indira IVF over the last 5 years in terms of overall market size?

In India, at present around 2-2.5 lakh IVF cycles are performed every year. According to Call to Action, a report by Ernst & Young, fertility in the country has increased by 20% over the past five years. The market looks very promising and has the potential to do around 5-6 lakh IVF cycles. About 10-15% of the country’s population is facing fertility problems and India’s current fertility rate is 2.179 births per woman in 2021, a decline of 0.95% from 2020. However, it is about making ART and IVF facilities more. Closer to people and create greater awareness on infertility. The revenue of Indira IVF during FY18 to FY21 is 470 crores, 674 crores, 750 crore and 658 crores respectively. In revenue over the last five years, Indira IVF has seen around 63% CAGR in the non-COVID-19 period.

Do you have any plans to expand internationally?

As mentioned, we plan to expand our services internationally. Indira IVF is hoping to hit the international market by the end of this year or early next year starting with India’s neighboring countries Bangladesh and Nepal. Eventually, we will also venture into South Asian countries such as Indonesia, Malaysia and the Philippines. Presently, we have candidates in these countries through Indira Fertility Academy which we have established to generate skilled manpower. Young gynecologists and embryologists are trained and certified and then allowed to practice at our centres. Our institute is certified by the MERCK Foundation, Egypt and therefore we continue to host and train international representatives in the field of embryology, collaborating with like-minded organizations, doctors, embryologists and practitioners who can work in this field.

What technologies are unique to Indira IVF hosting services?

At Indira IVF, we look forward to continuously incorporate world class technology that will contribute to reducing the risk factors and increasing the chances of success. Another important goal with respect to technology is to reduce the overall treatment cycle required to achieve a live birth. This helps make IVF treatment more affordable for the general public, and also contributes to some degree of emotional support. We were the first organization in India to import and implement Closed Working Chambers technology from Australia – it helps in providing environmental conditions to eggs and sperms similar to human body when we are working with them in the laboratory. Additionally, we have also implemented an electronic witness system which ensures that unrelated couplers do not mix and are currently the largest users of the technology in India.

How is Indira IVF distributed across India? How many clinics does Indira IVF have and when does a specialized center break for you?

Indira IVF’s chain of clinics is spread across the length and breadth of India. With the recent opening of a new clinic in Bathinda, we are now aggregating 100 centers spread across 21 states of the country. Our 100 clinics can be broken down as 43% in the north of the country, 29% in the west, 15% in the east and 13% in the south. Over 50% of all our centers are located in Tier II and Tier III locations. As over a decade of helping couples fulfill their dream of growing their family, we remain the largest infertility treatment chain in India in terms of our reach and number of patients treated. Our centers break down at each location within a year, although we as an organization consider the successful outcome of a cycle to be a sign of a successful centre, which is achieved even faster.
