Indus adds Olympic pistol shooter Heena Sidhu as playable character

Pune-based developer Supergaming has partnered with Olympic pistol shooter Heena Sidhu to bring the likeness to its upcoming Indo-futuristic battle royale game Indus. The athlete will soon appear as Heena, an in-game character whose backstory is described to form a significant part of Sindhu’s lore, establishing her as a living legend among the folk. For the uninitiated, in April 2014, Sidhu became the first Indian pistol shooter to achieve the number one world ranking, which was awarded to her by the International Shooting Sport Federation (ISSF).

“I was surprised to see that an Indian game studio has put so much care and attention to detail, especially in terms of shooting and gunplay, how it translates to Sindhu,” Sidhu said in a prepared statement. “This is something that I have noticed as an athlete and an avid gamer, which has made it easier to collaborate with supergaming Even easier.” In fact, Hina’s new character has been openly teased in most Indus’ promotional material, a scout over his left eye and some wing-like blades coming out of his back.

Supergaming claims that his lore is no different from Sidhu in real life, who had to break away from stereotypes to fully realize his passion for shooting. Her back story is not entirely clear, but a Supergaming spokesperson suggested she is best compared to a Robin Hood for her village – a hero among those in need.

Sindhu also revealed another new entry in its extensive roster, Mor-Ni, revered as a folk hero among the Yakshas, an intelligent caste of beings. As the name suggests, her look resembles that of a peacock – suitable headgear paired with a purple-blue combo in terms of clothing and makeup. Both characters will be available in Indus at launch.

as described in a previous reportsIndus is not like a class-based shooter overwatch, So while all Mythwalkers appear to be designed differently, they are not currently equipped with any special skills. A spokesperson for Supergaming said, “Sometime after launch, players will definitely see our own interesting take on the plains of Virlok by augmenting players with some special abilities.”

The company has 3rd Community Playtest event late last month, which included new skins, weapons, quality-of-life improvements to the map and mini-map, customizable controls, and the ability to slide around the map. Indus has you step into the shoes of a Mythwalker, a hired gun working for COVEN, an intergalactic syndicate that seeks a mysterious rare mineral called Cosmium.

In classic battle-royale fashion, gamers will be dropped onto the floating island of Virlok to scavenge for supplies, kill anyone who stands in their way, and come out as the last player standing. Alternatively, players can wait until the Cosmium appears at a random location on the map and intercept it to end the match immediately.

Pre-registration for Sindhu is now live google play store, pc And console versions are expected in the future.
