Inspired by Twitter user’s poll, restaurant launches “Samosa Corner”

“Samosa Corners”, a new dish launched after a Twitter poll by Mr Doshi.

How many of you remember the days when your parents used to give you samosas on the way back from work? For most Indians, samosas are the perfect answer to an evening meal craving or snack time with hot tea. An internet user took to Twitter to reveal how his online survey prompted a restaurant to launch a new dish called ‘Samosa Corner’. Breakfast is just a crust of samosas, without the usual potato filling.

Twitter user Shreyas Doshi’s caption read, “Since it’s the season to turn Twitter polls into products, this is real proof that it works.”

“The founder of @samosa_party just told me that they were inspired by my recent survey about samosa crust vs filling and they really won the “samosa corner” crust,” he adds.

Mr Doshi also posted a screenshot of the message he received from the restaurant’s founder. The message read, “Hey Shreyas. I am the founder of Samosa Party. Creating India’s 1st Ethnic Food QSR. Your poll on Samosas inspired us to launch this unique product- this is the most awesome part of Samosas – We call it “samosa.” Corners” are simply the crust to serve with our signature chutney. Along with the text, he also shared a picture of the new dish.

The post was shared on November 2 and has garnered over 1,400 likes. Many users also commented on this. A user shared a screenshot of the dish available on the food delivery application and confirmed that the dish has indeed been launched.

One user said, “Hey, the magnitude of this idea is really huge!!!!! Can’t wait for the counter to open its outlets soon.”

“It is so good and their cheese corn samosas are to die for,” said another user.

A third user said, “Very impressive.”

Mr. Doshi cast his vote on September 17. He asked the audience on Twitter, “In a samosa, which part do you enjoy the most?” 10,715 votes were cast, of which 57.3 per cent went to Krust and 24.2 per cent to Filling. Other options include “Neither. I’m a bot” and “What is a samosa?”
