Instagram introduces new ‘Add Yourself’ feature that will allow you to start story threads – Times of India

Meta (Facebook) owned social media is expanding its features instagram Stories more interactive. The social media platform has announced a new feature called ‘Add Yours’ that will allow you to add interactive stickers to your Stories. The feature was previously tested in Japan and Indonesia and is now available globally.
Once you’ve added a sticker to your stories, other users can use the ‘add yours’ option inside it and share their own image or video to your story by creating a new thread. For example, you can post a story “Wear of the Day” and then ask their followers to add theirs with this sticker. To use this feature, you will need to update the Instagram app to its latest version.
Users can access this tool after capturing or uploading content to your story by selecting it from the navigation bar at the top. You can then select the ‘Add Yours’ sticker to initiate the public thread. On the other hand, you can also respond to the ‘Add yours’ sticker by clicking on the option and entering your own story to be a part of the series.
This new sticker is very similar to TikTok’s “Duet” feature, which allows people to use original videos to create content. However, the Instagram feature is a bit different, as it allows you to view other posts in the content chain, whereas TikTok does not show all the couple videos that were uploaded from the original TikTok accounts. The global availability of this new sticker is intended to allow users to collaborate and share their interests, as Instagram tries to compete with other social media networks.
The already available interactive stickers to add to your stories across the social media platform include sliders, mentions, quizzes and polls. Instagram previously announced that it is also working on a children’s version of the app as the app is only available for users over the age of 13 and doesn’t really have a kid-friendly version. The Instagram Kids app is yet to be unveiled and is currently a work in progress.
Instagram took another initiative to know the birth dates of all its users in order to “protect young people” in the community. Users who do not wish to disclose their birthday will be requested multiple times and will have to disclose their age if they want to continue using this social media platform.
