meta platform, Instagram planning to issue a text-based application to compete with Twitter And could start as soon as June, Bloomberg News reported on Friday, citing people familiar with the matter.

The company did not immediately respond to a Reuters request for comment.
Alex Heath said in a newsletter that Meta is contacting talent agencies and celebrities to gauge their interest in trying out an early version of the app, which will be integrated with Instagram.

The report also mentions that parent company Meta has secretly made the new app available to select creators for months. It is said to be separate from Instagram yet allows people to connect accounts.

The app is also being updated for security measures. To ensure the privacy of accounts, blocked users on Instagram may soon be moved to the new app. To add, this new app is also working on compatibility with Twitter’s rival Mastodon.
