MediaTek and Intel announce new partnership

MediaTek is going to use Intel’s existing chip ecosystem to build its own lineup for various devices in the market.

Intel and MediaTek have announced a strategic partnership to manufacture chips using Intel Foundry Services (IFS) advanced process technologies.

The agreement will help MediaTek build a more balanced, resilient supply chain by adding new foundry partners with significant potential in the US and Europe.

NS Tsai, Corporate Senior Vice President, Platform, said, “With our commitment to large capacity expansion, IFS provides value to MediaTek as we seek to build a more diversified supply chain.” technology and manufacturing operations at MediaTek, said in a statement.

MediaTek plans to use Intel process technologies to manufacture multiple chips for a range of Smart Edge devices.

IFS provides a comprehensive manufacturing platform with optimized technologies for high performance, low power and always-on connectivity built on a roadmap that spans production-proven three-dimensional FinFET transistors to next generation breakthroughs.
