Amidst the drama, Punjab was helped in the final over by Rahul Tripathi. As Rahul pulls it to the deep, Tripathi takes a stunner while charging from the midwicket boundary. However, the third umpire’s decision went in Punjab’s favour, with replays showing that the ball had touched the ground.

Twitter was divided on the decision as many considered it a fair catch. the losing captain Eoin Morgan Commenting on the post-match decision also said that if Kolkata had got the wicket, the result might have been different.

“I thought it was out in real time (referring to Rahul’s catch in the 19th over). Obviously, when you slow things down and analyze it.. that the third umpire thought otherwise. And that’s a decision, so it’s final and we need to go ahead with it. But it would have been nice if we had got that wicket,” Morgan said.

Morgan also praised Venkatesh Iyer, who played a fluent knock of 67 runs and continued his dream run in the tournament. The left-handed opener has so far scored 193 runs in five matches including two half-centuries.

“Iyer is a few players. He is a real find for us, has been with us throughout the campaign and we have seen him in practice. Above all his attitude is fantastic for a guy who plays fearlessly with the bat. He takes There’s a lot of responsibility with the ball, Dre Russ leaves a huge gap in the all-rounder’s position for us, but having someone come in and contribute is really excellent,” said Morgan.
