The unrest in the Chennai Super Kings camp came to the fore once again when senior batsman Ambati Rayudu announced his “IPL retirement” on social media, only to back down after the team management spoke to him within an hour.

CSK are already out of the play-off race with a few matches to go, but already former captain Ravindra Jadeja has gone home with a “broken rib”, but not before fueling speculation that his There has been a dispute with the management. Leave the captaincy

On Saturday morning, the 36-year-old former India white-ball player took to Twitter to announce his decision.

Rayudu said, “I am happy to announce that this will be my last IPL. I have had a wonderful time playing it and being a part of 2 great teams for 13 years. Mumbai Indians and Mumbai Indians for this wonderful journey. I would love to express my sincere thanks to CSC.” had tweeted.

But within an hour, the post was deleted as the CSK owners and team management were completely clueless about Rayudu’s decision, which also raised questions about the communication channel of one of the most successful teams in IPL history.

CSK CEO Kasi Viswanathan said, “I can confirm that Ambati Rayudu is not retiring from IPL. Yes, he had tweeted about it. Maybe he was in an emotional state, he tweeted. Talked about it and the tweet was later deleted.” ,

This is not the first time Rayudu has made a U-turn with the decision to retire. He made news after his “3 pronged” tweet aimed at India selector MSK Prasad in the backdrop of his exclusion from the World Cup 2019 squad.

Rayudu then retired from international cricket in July that year to reverse his decision.

During his IPL career spanning over a decade, IPL legend Rayudu has represented two franchises. He was first picked up by Mumbai Indians in 2010 and remained there until 2017 after he was pardoned by the BCCI for returning to the main fold after his stint in the unrecognized Indian Cricket League in 2007.

Rayudu is one of the most successful IPL players as he has been a part of title-winning teams on five occasions (2013, 2015, 2017 with Mumbai Indians and 2018, 2021 with Chennai Super Kings).

Throughout his IPL career, the 36-year-old Rayudu scored 4,187 runs at an average of 29.28, including a century and 22 fifties.

The Hyderabad middle-order batsman is also the 10th Indian to reach the 4,000-run milestone in the IPL.

In the current IPL season, Rayudu has scored 271 runs at a strike rate of 124 but he has often been seen struggling for fitness on the field.

In the last IPL in the United Arab Emirates, Rayudu scored 257 runs in 13 innings, with a tournament-best 72 not out. He was retained by CSK but was later successfully bought by the four-time champions for Rs 6.75 crore.

Rayudu played 55 ODIs and six T20Is for India, scoring 1694 and 42 runs respectively. His best score in ODIs is an unbeaten 124 against Zimbabwe at Harare Sports Club in 2015.
