Change of venue necessitated due to multiple COVID-19 cases in Delhi camp

The Board of Control for Cricket in India (BCCI) on Wednesday shifted the Indian Premier League (IPL) game between Delhi Capitals and Punjab Kings from Pune to Mumbai’s Brabourne Stadium due to multiple COVID-19 cases in the Delhi camp.

BCCI secretary Jay Shah confirmed in a statement issued on Tuesday that “the change of venue was necessitated to avoid any further incident due to any undisclosed matter during long distance bus travel in closed environment”.

Hindu It understands that the Delhi Capitals squad, which has been locked in their rooms since Monday morning, will train in an alternate session on Tuesday evening.

Shah said: “The change of venue has started due to the five COVID-19 positive cases in the Delhi Capitals squad.” Hindu on Monday Five cases were confirmed in the Capitals’ biosecure bubble,

“Since April 16, the entire Delhi Capitals contingent has been put under a daily RT-PCR testing process. The fourth round of RT-PCR tests conducted on April 19 has come back negative,” Shah said. “The Delhi Capitals contingent will undergo another round of RT-PCR testing on the morning of April 20.”

The five members who have contracted COVID-19 have been identified as Physiotherapist Patrick Farhart (diagnosed on April 15), masseur Chetan Kumar (April 16), all-rounder Mitchell Marsh, team doctor Dr Abhijit Salvi and social media content team member Akash Mane (all on April 18).

While Marsh is under observation at a hospital in South Mumbai, Others have been quarantined in their respective rooms. After serving a five-day quarantine, if these members test negative on the 6th and 7th day, they will be allowed to re-enter the bubble.
