In the 15th over of the Royal Challengers Bangalore (RCB) innings, Mohsin Khan bowled Karthik and the batsman got an edge on the ball. LSG skipper KL Rahul did a great job as he ran back to track the ball at mid-off. Finally, he dived to complete the catch. But he just managed to get his fingers on. Unfortunately his chance to send DK back to the pavilion was missed as Rahul fell.
Meanwhile, LSG mentor gautam gambhir Displaying many emotions was captured after Rahul dropped the crucial catch. Gambhir was clapping at the start as he felt that the LSG captain had managed to take a brilliant catch. But it was not the only misfield that caused Lucknow to lose the match. In the next over, Deepak Hooda conceded only four runs to Rajat Patidar for 72. After Hooda, when Ravi Bishnoi came to bowl, Patidar made sure LSG regretted dropping his catch. So he got out after scoring 6, 6, 4, 6 and 27 in the last four balls of Bishnoi’s over.
Patidar’s attack did not stop as he remained unbeaten on 112 off 54 balls, which included 12 fours and 7 sixes.
In a post-match presentation, the LSG captain admitted that poor fielding cost him 30-40 extra runs. RCB did manage to beat Lucknow by 14 runs in the eliminator, and they entered Qualifier 2 to face Rajasthan Royals. LSG had to pay for its errors.
