The five-time IPL winners have signed South African middle-order batsman Tristan Stubbs as Mills’ replacement for the rest of the season.
The 21-year-old Stubbs is a talented batsman and recently made his debut for the national South African A team against Zimbabwe. His domestic season has been very promising and has been instrumental for his team in the recently concluded T20 domestic league.
Mills played five matches for MI this season and took six wickets in them.

Despite their poor performance so far, MI will be confident when they take on Gujarat Titans after defeating Rajasthan Royals in their previous match on Friday evening. Their head coach Mahela Jayawardene says the franchise is now aiming to get out of the season by winning all their remaining matches.
“We just have to win matches, play as a group. It has been tough, we are not satisfied with our performance but everyone stayed together and worked hard. We have been together and believed in our abilities, so will be the same for the rest of the season. We have to make sure we win matches and enjoy our cricket.”
Jayawardene is happy to see the MI players playing to their potential and showcasing their skills against RR, ending their eight consecutive losing streak.
“It was good to see that we were able to showcase our skills and finish the last game. We were able to cross the boundary – we had such opportunities in the first season as well – and getting points on the board was a positive result. We have a good focus and we are looking forward to the next match, which is going to be a tough one against a team that is in form.”
