IPL 2022: Matthew Wade hits bat, found guilty of Level 1 offense during GT vs RCB clash

Frustrated Matthew Wade went back after he was controversially given out during Gujarat Titans’ game against Royal Challengers Bangalore.

Matthew Wade, who fired his bat in anger, has been reprimanded for violating IPL Code of conduct during Gujarat Titans’ match against Royal Challengers Bangalore on Thursday.

The Australian wicketkeeper-batsman was controversially given out and the batsman vented his frustration by throwing his bat and head gear into the dressing room.

“Mr Wade pleaded guilty to a Level 1 offense under Article 2.5 of the IPL Code of Conduct and accepted the sanction,” IPL said in a statement.

“For Level 1 breaches of the Code of Conduct, the decision of the match referee is final and binding,” it added.

Although the IPL did not give any reason behind the violation, Wade was almost annoyed by the umpire’s decision and despite Virat Kohli Expressing concern, the wicketkeeper was not happy.

Replays suggested the sweep was an under-edge from shot-off Glen Maxwell And after the batsman was given out by the on-field umpire, the batsman immediately reviewed it.

However, despite an apparent deviation in the ball’s trajectory before it was patted onto the pads, UltraEdge did not detect it and the TV umpire remained with the on-field umpire’s call.

Meanwhile, Virat Kohli found his form back with a fluent half-century to keep RCB’s hopes of entering the playoffs alive.
