IPL 2022: MS Dhoni wins the toss, elects to bowl against RCB unchanged; Moeen Ali returns for CSK

Chennai Super Kings captain Mahendra Singh Dhoni won the toss and elected to bowl against Royal Challengers Bangalore at the Maharashtra Cricket Association Stadium in Pune. The defending champions would like to continue their winning momentum to keep the playoff hopes alive. The return of MS Dhoni as the CSK captain worked well for the franchise in the previous match, where he completely outplayed Sunrisers Hyderabad.

Chennai made a change in their XI as New Zealand’s Mitchell Santner was replaced by Moeen Ali.

Dhoni feels that there is going to be dew in the last leg of the game as the toss is not going to make a big difference in the clash.

“We will bowl first. It lingers a bit initially. And this is one of those places where the toss doesn’t matter much as it is an open ground so the dew sets quite late. One change, we have Moeen in place of Santner. We have partnered and we want to be more consistent,” Dhoni said at the toss.

Meanwhile, it is a crucial game for RCB as they are desperate to get back on the winning track after losing a few matches. However, a good sign for them is the form of Virat Kohli who scored a scintillating half-century against Gujarat Titans.

RCB captain Faf du Plessis said that he was looking to bat first and announced that he would go with an unchanged XI.

“Not sure about the toss to be honest. It looks like a better wicket. We were looking to bat first tonight. Last game we took some steps, good batting performance, maybe 10 runs short. But it was definitely the confidence we wanted to see in the players coming in and scoring. Same team for us,” Du Plessis said.
