Expressing happiness on being picked by DC, Oswal said, “I have been watching IPL since childhood. It was always a dream to play in IPL, because it is the biggest platform you can get.

“I was watching the auction in my room and my name came very late. I knew I had done well in the Under-19 World Cup but at the same time it was a big auction, so I thought they would go with their team and there might be some chances that I might not get picked.

“For two days, I was worried and it was really enjoyable when DC picked me up.”

The 19-year-old said that he has always idolized India all-rounder Ravindra Jadeja for his ability to contribute in every department of the game.

“He (Ravindra Jadeja) is my idol. The kind of player he is, he contributes in bowling, batting and most importantly fielding. He is the kind of player every team wants him to be,” Ostwal said.
