IPL 2023 GT Vs KKR: Titans led by Shami, Shankar beat Knights by 7 wickets

Defending champions Gujarat Titans defeated two-time champions Kolkata Knight Riders by 7 wickets in the 16th season of the Indian Premier League at the Eden Gardens on 29 April.

After winning the toss, GT captain Hardik Pandya decided to bowl. In reply, KKR batsmen scored 179 runs in 20 overs, which GT achieved with 13 balls to spare.

KKR innings:

Opening for KKR, Narayan Jagadeesan was dismissed for 19 by Mohammed Shami in the third over. Subsequently, Shardul Thakur also walked off the pitch in the 5th over as Shami took his wicket.

Similarly, other GT bowlers took the wickets of Venkatesh Iyer (11), skipper Nitish Rana (4) and power hitter Rinku Singh (19). However, Rahmanullah Gurbaz kept his cool and scored 81 off 39 balls before being dismissed by Noor Ahmed in the 16th over. Andre Russell scored 34 runs but Shami sent him back in the 20th over.

Mohammed Shami took three wickets for GT, while Josh Little and Noor Ahmed took two wickets each.

GT Shift:

Chasing the target of 180 runs, KKR could not perform today and was sent back by Russell in the 5th over. Gill (49) and skipper Hardik Pandya (26) stitched a good partnership, but then Pandya was sent back by Harshit Rana in the 11th over. After this, Gill was also sent back by Naren in the 13th over.

Chasing the target, Vijay Shankar (51) and David Miller (32) built a strong partnership to hand GT a 7-wicket win with 13 balls to spare.

Harshit Rana, Andre Russell and Sunil Narine took one wicket each for KKR.

With this, GT has now reached the top spot with 6 wins from 8 matches, while KKR are at the 7th spot with 3 wins and 6 losses.
