IPL 2023: KKR beat RCB by a huge margin of 81 runs

Kolkata Knight Riders beat Royal Challengers Bangalore by 81 runs in their second match IPL 2023 on Thursday. KKR, who were playing at their home ground Eden Gardens, made a great comeback after facing defeat in their opening matches against the Punjab Kings. Faf Du PlessisRCB led by K won the toss and opted to bowl. Electing to bat first, KKR scored 204/7 in 20 overs. Chasing a massive total, RCB were bundled out for 123 in 17.4 overs. While Shardul Thakur and Rinku Singh stabilized the batting for KKR, their mystery spinners in the second innings rattled the RCB batsmen.

RCB’s batting was excellent in the match chasing 205 runs. Whereas Virat Kohli Faf du Plessis, who got out after scoring just 21 runs, also went back to the hut after scoring just 23 runs. wickets kept falling after that Glen Maxwell, Harshal Patel, Shahbaz Ahmed and Michael Bracewell were all dismissed. In the end, David Willey returned unbeaten after scoring 22 runs while Akash Deep got 17 runs off his bat. RCB could only reach 123 runs. KKR’s star spinner Varun Chakravarthy took four wickets in the match. Whereas Suyash Sharma took three wickets.

Electing to bat first, KKR scored 89/5 in 11.3 overs and 115/2 in the next 8.3 overs. RCB conceded 115 runs in the last 51 balls and that shifted the momentum completely towards Kolkata. Shardul Thakur played a brilliant inning of 68 runs while batting brilliantly. Rinku Singh contributed with 46 runs. At the same time, opener Rahmanullah Gurbaz played an inning of 57 runs.

Talking about the head-to-head record between KKR and RCB, Kolkata Knight Riders have the upper hand. There have been a total of 31 IPL matches between these two teams so far. Out of which 17 have been won by KKR, while 14 have been won by RCB.
