IPL: Delhi Capitals player tests positive, team postpones trip to Pune

An overseas player of the Delhi Capitals team has tested positive for COVID-19, forcing the franchise to delay their travel to Pune for their next IPL match against Punjab Kings on Wednesday.

The Indian Premier League (IPL) has been affected by a new round of Kovid-19 infection. According to a PTI report, the player is an Australian all-rounder who showed symptoms of COVID-19 after a Rapid Antigen Test (RAT) was done and came back positive. Due to the development, the entire contingent of Delhi Capitals which was supposed to travel to Pune has been postponed while filing this report.

“The DC was to travel to Pune today but the entire squad members have been asked to retire to their respective rooms and as per protocol RT PCR is being done to find out if there is an outbreak in the camp or It’s a different matter like Patrick FarhartA BCCI source told PTI on Monday.

“All the teams are staying at Conrad Hotel in Pune, where BCCI has created a bio-bubble. They were supposed to travel, but now it has been delayed. Obviously those with negative results will travel tomorrow,” the source said. Will go on.” said.

“We were supposed to leave today but have been asked to stay in the room until further notice,” said a team source.

Earlier, team physio Patrick Farhart had also tested positive last week.

The IPL was also suspended midway in 2021 and the remaining matches were played in the UAE after a Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) player tested positive for COVID-19.

Meanwhile, Delhi Capitals lost to Royal Challengers Bangalore by 16 runs at the Wankhede Stadium on Saturday night and are in the bottom half of the IPL table with just four points.

Delhi Capitals will next face Punjab Kings in Pune on April 20.
