IRCTC to offer sattvik food at Delhi’s Nizamuddin Railway Station

If you love to munch on during train journeys, we are sure that you will love the food items served on express trains. Railway Style Chicken Curry, Railway Cutlets and much more – each of these dishes has something unique about the taste and aroma, which draws us to it again and again. However, this often becomes problematic for those involved in Jain food or sattvik food (without onions and garlic). They either carry enough food from home or eat almost nothing. To make travel easier for such people, the Indian Railway Catering and Tourism Corporation (IRCTC) has taken the initiative of serving sattvik food in trains. Reportedly, IRCTC has joined hands with Govinda’s restaurant at the International Society for Krishna Consciousness (ISKCON) temple in Delhi to offer pure vegetarian food to the passengers.

According to a statement issued recently, IRCTC said that passengers can now stop worrying about getting sattvik food while travelling. Instead, they can order it directly from Govinda’s restaurant through IRCTC’s e-catering service. IRCTC has started this service for people boarding or traveling in trains from Nizamuddin Railway Station in Delhi. From Maharaja Thali and Biryani to Dim Sum and Noodles, you will get it all through this service.

Earlier in April 2022 during Chaitra Navratri, IRCTC had offered special Sattvik Vrat Thali for passengers observing fast on-board. This particular plate did not have garlic on onions and was prepared with rock salt. click here To find out what’s included in each platter.

Last year, IRCTC also collaborated with the Sattvik Council of India to offer certified vegetarian food on trains to religious places in India. click here to know more.
