Many House of the Dragon fans are still coming to terms with the unexpected season finale. Anticipation for next season is already fever pitch. Meanwhile, a few others have taken to the internet to share the shocking similarities they found between the Shrek franchise and the HBO show. It may seem almost impossible to believe that movie franchises made for kids and popular TV series that even some adults find difficult to digest can have anything in common. But here. From the dress of Queen Dowager Alicente Hightower at the coronation of Aegon II, to the entrance of Ranis and Mélis. Here are some of the best reactions from Twitter users (spoilers ahead!):

Twitter users were comparing scenes from House of the Dragon with scenes from Shrek. Many were alike. However, most were disappointed that a scene took a different path than the outcome they would have enjoyed. And it has everything to do with Aegon II’s hasty coronation. Sharing a clip from the Shrek franchise, one user wrote, “Rennis should have let Melees eat Aegon like the donkey did to Shrek and the war could have ended there.”

Another user seems to have found out the secret formula behind the HBO series. This is more than just Shrek. “HOTD is just Shrek and How to Train Your Dragon as animated characters with real-life people,” the comment read.

But what has been puzzling social media users is a fun compilation. The clip shows a split screen running parallel with scenes from Shrek and House of the Dragon. And one has to say, the similarity is too much to deny. A Twitter user shared the clip with the caption, “I’ve only seen Shrek and this is the version of HotD I’ve always wanted to have in my head.”

Meanwhile, some others commented that after the season finale, they now have a sudden urge to watch both Shrek and How to Train Your Dragon once again. After all, dragons, politics and shippable pairs? They are ready to sign up.
