Mahashivratri 2022: Isha Yoga Center is all set to host the biggest festival of the year – Mahashivratri. The night-long festival will begin at 6 pm on March 1 and will continue till 6 am the next morning in the presence of Sadhguru. Isha Mahashivratri will be broadcast online and across all major television networks in English, Tamil, Hindi, Telugu, Kannada, Marathi and various other regional languages.
Mahashivratri is one of the most important festivals of India, celebrating the grace of Adi Guru Shiva, from whom the yoga tradition originated. The position of the planets on this night is such that there is a powerful natural surge of energy in the human system. Staying awake and aware throughout the night keeping the spine straight is very beneficial for one’s physical and spiritual health.
Following the COVID-19 protocol, entry to the program is limited and only through registration. The entire program will be telecast live in 16 languages, with lakhs of devotees from across the world also expected to tune in via television. Medical screening, social distancing, wearing of masks and sanitisers will also be mandatory for those attending the festivities at the yoga centre, apart from complying with all government instructions for in-person gatherings.
Beginning with Pancha Bhoota worship at Dhyanalinga, the night-long festival will see the Linga Bhairavi Maha Yatra, Satsang with Sadhguru, midnight meditation and the spectacular Adiyogi Divya Darshanam. Other highlights of the Mahashivratri celebrations will be the spectacular music and dance performances. Renowned artistes from different parts of the country like Papon, Master Saleem, Hansraj Raghuvanshi, Mangli and Sean Roldan will enthrall the audience with their unique and varied music. Other attractions include music by Isha Foundation’s own home band – Sounds of Isha and dance performances by Isha Sanskriti.
In 2021, the online viewership of the Mahashivratri event on March 11–12 was 50% higher than that of the Grammy Awards telecast, which aired on March 14. The ceremony at the Isha Yoga Center was the only Indian livestream to make it to the top 50 live streams. in the world that week. The event was watched by people from 130 countries, making it the largest festival globally in March 2021.
In the Grace of Yoga – Live Events with Sadhguru

Seven days of spiritual and cultural gaiety
This year, Mahashivratri is also going to be special because for the first time, the night festivities of March 1 will be followed by seven days of spiritual and cultural festivities, which will end on March 8. There will be many avenues for devotees to explore deeper dimensions of wellbeing through free online offerings of Bhakti Shiva mantras, simple yet effective Upa-yoga, and Yaksha – a three-day (March 2-4) music and dance festival. Maha Annadanam, the offering of food to all the visitors, is an integral part of the celebration. Hundreds of volunteers will be involved in cooking and distributing food to thousands of visitors on the night of Mahashivratri and each day of the next seven days.

Raghavendra Raja Rao – more popularly known as Sean Roldan – specializes in Carnatic music and songs for the Tamil film industry. He began working on Carnatic songs as a composer, but later ventured into independent Tamil music with his band “Sean Roldan and Friends”.
