‘Isolation’ not mandatory for foreign arrivals to test Covid positive: Officials

Officials said that travelers coming to India from any country who test positive for COVID-19 will be treated/isolated as per the prescribed standard protocol and not necessarily managed in an isolation facility Will go

According to the revised Guidelines for International Arrivals released on Thursday, the new norms will be applicable from January 22 till further orders. Rest of the provisions remain unchanged in the revised guidelines.

Existing guidelines state that passengers coming from any country ‘including those at risk’ will be managed in isolation facility and treated as per prescribed standard protocols.

The revised guidelines did away with the clause that makes it mandatory to stay in an isolation facility on arrival. Passengers found to be symptomatic during the screening will be immediately isolated and taken to a medical facility as per health protocols.

If tested positive, their contacts will be identified and managed as per protocol. Foreign arrivals who test positive will have to undergo home quarantine for seven days even after testing negative on the 8th day of arrival in India and conducting RT-PCR test.
