“It was tremendous, we were scared”: Earthquake jolts Delhi at 2 am

New Delhi:

Locals in the national capital, who felt the tremors in the city in the early hours of Wednesday, shared their experiences of the tremors.

The epicenter of the earthquake was in Nepal and its magnitude was 6.3 on the Richter scale and was felt in the national capital and adjoining areas at around 1.57 am.

Speaking to ANI, a passenger at New Delhi railway station said, “We were getting down from an auto when we felt the tremors. The auto driver too got scared, and as I looked around, I saw others too. Felt it. He stopped. After a while.”

Ramesh, an auto driver, said, “I was carrying a passenger on a ride. We felt the tremors of the earthquake. The passenger got off. We felt it for a long time.”

Another passenger waiting at the railway station said, “I felt the tremors. I told the people around me.”

“We felt the ground shaking. Some people felt it, some didn’t,” said Yasin, a taxi driver.

People living and working overnight in Noida shared their experiences of the scenario triggered by the sudden tremors of the earthquake.

Sunny, a working professional, said that as soon as the earthquake was felt, the office alarm went off and they immediately ran outside the office.

He said, “The guard raised the alarm when the earthquake occurred. The company had taken precautions. We all along with the manager and HR had come out of the building. The earthquake was tremendous. We were scared.”

Another person, Suraj Tiwari, said that they stayed outside the office for about 10 minutes as a precaution.

“I was having my coffee and my seat shook. The office alarm went off after which we ran outside the building. We stayed outside the office for about 10 minutes and then went inside and started our work,” he said.

Another local Vishwesh said, “We were working and then we started trembling. The alarm went off. We went outside the office.”

In Greater Noida, Prajusha, a local said, “I was in the office when the earthquake struck. It was only after it was over that we came to know that it was a strong earthquake. Then we left the building.”

Earlier today, an earthquake measuring 6.3 on the Richter scale was felt in Nepal, according to the National Center for Seismology.

National Center for Seismology tweeted, “The earthquake of magnitude: 6.3, occurred at 09-11-2022, 01:57:24 IST, Latitude: 29.24 & Long: 81.06, Depth: 10 km, Location: Nepal,”.
