ITC reports 15% jump in net profit at Rs 4,118.8 crore in December quarter – Times of India

New Delhi: Miscellaneous Unit ITC Limited On Thursday, consolidated net profit for the third quarter ended December 31, 2021 reported a growth of 15 per cent at Rs 4,118.8 crore, driven by strong demand across business verticals.
ITC Ltd in a regulatory filing said the company had posted a consolidated net profit of Rs 3,587.2 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
Its consolidated total income stood at Rs 18,787.72 crore as against Rs 14,670.17 crore in the year-ago quarter.
The company said the total expenditure stood at Rs 13,207.28 crore as compared to Rs 9,765.56 crore in the corresponding period of last fiscal.
ITC said its board has approved interim dividend of Rs 5.25 each on common share for the financial year ending March 31, 2022.
The Cigarettes segment generated revenue of Rs 6,958.79 crore during the third quarter as compared to Rs 6,091.17 crore in the corresponding period of the previous financial year.
ITC said its other FMCG division’s revenue stood at Rs 4,099.47 crore, up from Rs 3,752.61 crore in the year-ago quarter.
It said there was strong growth in discretionary, out-of-home categories such as snacks, frozen snacks and beverages, while staples and convenience foods showed resilient performance.
The company said the sanitation portfolio continues to fluctuate in demand commensurate with the intensity of the Covid-19 caseload and is well above pre-pandemic levels.
The hotel segment reported a revenue of Rs 495.53 crore, as against Rs 248.87 crore in the third quarter of the previous fiscal. Occupancy has reached pre-pandemic levels and there has also been a strong sequential improvement in average room rates, but still below pre-pandemic levels.
While domestic holiday travel and festive, wedding season along with a progressive recovery in business travel fueled demand, the Omicron wave has impacted the pace of recovery in January 2022, ITC said.
Its agribusiness revenue rose to Rs 5,157.36 crore in the third quarter from Rs 2,694.27 crore in the same period a year ago. This was driven by wheat, rice, spices, leaf tobacco exports by leveraging on strong customer relations, strong sourcing network and agile execution.
The company said revenue from the paperboard, paper and packaging vertical also increased to Rs 2,046.48 crore from Rs 1,477.53 crore in the third quarter of last year.
