ITES, BPO increase the requirement of women employees

Bangalore According to job search platform Foundit (formerly Monster), the information technology-enabled services (ITES) and business process outsourcing (BPO) sectors are driving the demand for women in the workforce in India. Foundit said in a report published on Monday that these two sectors accounted for 36 per cent of total jobs for women in February, up from 30 per cent in the same month last year.

The demand for women in India’s white-collar economy is also increasing and jobs for women increased by 35% in February compared to the same month last year, the report said. Along with ITES/BPO, the IT/computer software and banking/accounting/financial services sectors have been ranked among the top three sectors driving demand for women in India’s workforce. Customer service and call centers currently employ the highest percentage of women at 25%.

This is followed by IT at 23%, HR roles (18%), and sales/business development (12%). Overall, women professionals are in high demand in jobs with people-oriented roles.

To be sure, the percentage of job postings for women has also increased to 20% in areas such as recruitment and staffing, and 8% in health care and diagnostics.

In terms of geographic distribution, metropolitan cities such as Delhi NCR, Mumbai, Bengaluru, Chennai and Pune reported the highest percentage of jobs available for women.

In terms of experience level, the demand for women professionals with work experience of up to five years between February 2022 and 2023 has increased.
