Industrial Training Institutes (ITIs) under the Ministry of Skill Development and Entrepreneurship (MSDE) are providing industrial training to the freshers of class X and XII. With an ITI diploma or degree, students can work as machinists, welders, fitters, wiremen and technicians, and with good work experience, they can also be hired as technical floor managers.

Due to the industrial partnership model and well equipped industrial laboratories, the rigor of technical skills among the students has been unprecedented.

ITI Cuttack, followed by ITI Barbil and ITI Bhubaneswar is building a multi-level skilled workforce. With over 45 government ITI colleges and private institutes in Odisha, the state has become a hub of innovation and skilling.

remove obstacles

In the early years, students were offered low salaries because they were not equipped with Industry 4.0 skills. Employers used to train students in the workplace during the first one or two years of the job. To bridge the training-talent gap, ITI Cuttack designed a new curriculum mapped with the National Council for Vocational Training (NCVT) curriculum. Through this, the students were trained in the latest technologies. Students are trained to repair or diagnose problems in machines and equipment used in drone piloting, mechatronics, electric vehicles, hybrid vehicles, additive manufacturing, and robotic welding.

New age technologies like IoT Smart City, IoT Smart Agriculture, IoT Smart Healthcare are integrated in the curriculum of ITI Bhubaneswar. This step has been taken to enable the students to understand the basics of these emerging technologies.

collaboration with industries

To update the technical skills of the students, a state-of-the-art training facility and industrial laboratories are required in the campus. To finance the same, many ITIs enter into industrial contracts and sign MoUs with MNCs. Under this three mini tool rooms were commissioned at ITI Cuttack in collaboration with Central Tool-Training Center (CTTC), Bhubaneswar. BharatBenz – a vehicle manufacturing company will set up an industrial laboratory at ITI Cuttack and install new-age equipment worth Rs 12 crore.
