“I had conveyed this to Wriddhiman and requested him to reconsider his decision. However, Wriddhiman has now informed us that he is not ready to play Ranji Knockouts.”
The 37-year-old, who has played 122 first-class matches, has also quit his official team WhatsApp group, making it clear that he has moved on.
A CAB official said that Saha has not yet sought a no-objection certificate (NOC) but the association will give it to him on his demand.
“We tried our best to convince him through his childhood coach also (Jayant Bhowmik), but he has made up his mind not to play for Bengal again. Whenever he asks for it, the association will give him an NOC.”
Saha had pulled out of the Ranji Trophy group stage citing ‘personal reasons’ for the first time since he was dropped from the Indian Test squad for the two-match home series against Sri Lanka in February.
