Health and wellness have emerged as one of the biggest priorities for enterprises today and it’s okay for an employee to say “I’m not well” at work, Accenture said.

“Realizing the growing need for mental health and well-being, our endeavor is to create a psychologically safe space where our people feel comfortable enough to say ‘I am not well,’ and help them through resources and support systems. Lakshmi said Accenture is trying to encourage employees to approach their mental health with respect and compassion.

“We are enabling this by creating awareness and through advocacy to break the stigma about mental health,” she said.

Accenture focuses on the overall well-being of its employees, an approach that encompasses all aspects of body, mind, heart and spirit, according to them.

“We also encourage our people to practice self-care, in addition to the medical benefits programs we provide to employees and their families.”

Accenture gives its employees access to AI-enabled solutions focused on building self-care and resilience. The company’s medical insurance benefits program also includes mental health counseling for employees and their dependent family members. The company claims that as part of its ‘Ask Away’ sessions, employees get a chance to interact with reputed global and national experts to build mental resilience, be happy, stay healthy and deal with stress.

To make mental wellbeing initiatives more inclusive, Accenture also takes its leaders and people managers through training so that they lead with compassion and watch out for any early signs of tension among their team members. Identify, according to Lakshmi.
