Jagannath Rath Yatra 2022: Thousands of devotees gathered at Puri, Odisha, where the Puri Jagannath Temple is located, to see the holy chariots and seek the blessings of the almighty. Devotees from across the country have arrived for the ceremonial Rath Yatra of the Bhai deities- Lord Balabhadra, Goddess Subhadra and Lord Jagannath. Devotees showed more enthusiasm by singing religious songs and chanting mantras. Some enthusiastic onlookers were also seen dancing. Elaborate security has been deployed in the area by the administration for congestion, traffic management and security. 180 platoon police and over 1,000 officers have been deployed in and around Puri during the festival to ensure the safe conduct of the Rath Yatra of Lord Jagannath.

This festival takes place every year on the second day of Shukla Paksha in the month of June or July. This year it is being celebrated on 1st July. The three chariots are made a new one every year before the annual chariot festival.
