Vijayamma said she was stepping down as the honorary president of the YSRC to avoid any unwanted controversy over her role.
Andhra Pradesh Chief Minister YS Jagan Mohan Reddy’s mother YS Vijayamma on Friday resigned as the honorary president of the YSR Congress Party, to stand beside her daughter Sharmila, who now heads the YSR Telangana Party in the neighboring state. . Announcing her decision to step down, she said that she will always be close to Jagan Mohan Reddy. Announcing her decision to leave YSRC, Vijayamma said, “As a mother, I will always be close to Jagan.”
“Sharmila is fighting a lone battle in Telangana to further her father’s ideals. I want to support him. I was in dilemma whether I can become a member of two political parties (in two states). It is difficult for me to continue as the honorary president of YSRC, Vijayamma said. “I never thought that such a situation would ever arise. I don’t know why this happened, but I think it is God’s decision.”
