Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind supports UP government’s decision to conduct survey of unrecognized madrassas

New Delhi [India]Sep 6 (ANI): Jamiat Ulema-e-Hind, a leading body of Islamic scholars, held a meeting on Tuesday where it decided to support the Yogi Adityanath government’s decision to conduct a survey of unrecognized madrassas in Uttar Pradesh .

All the people responsible for the madrasas of UP were present in the meeting.

Maulana Mahmood Asad Madani (National President, Jamiat Ulama-e-Hind) said in a press conference, “Madrasas are not looked after in a good way today. I appeal to the government to understand us. We will always do our duty. We are always ready to talk but not with force. We should be given time and we are ready to meet the officials concerned.

Expressing concern over the action taken against madrassas in Assam, Maulana Mahmud Asad Madani said, “You have seen what happened in Assam. If this method is adopted then it is illegal. We will send an application to the concerned authorities seeking time to meet them.

“No work should be done in a wrong way, even if it is a good deed. There is always room for some improvement. The way it is being portrayed is wrong,” said the Maulana.

The Uttar Pradesh government on September 1 announced that it would conduct a survey of unrecognized madrassas in the state to find out students, teachers, curriculum and affiliation with any non-governmental organization of these institutions.

All the members unanimously opposed the interference in the functioning of madrasas in the state. The future strategy is also being discussed.

An executive order was passed to transfer the teaching and non-teaching staff of aided madrassas with the concurrence of the registrar and the managers of the madrasas concerned with the approval of the UP Madarsa Education Council.

Minister of State for Minority Affairs Danish Azad Ansari said that a survey will be conducted as per the requirement of National Commission for Protection of Child Rights regarding the availability of basic facilities to the students in madrasas.

Danish Azad Ansari had also said, there is also an order to give maternity leave and child care leave to the women employees working in madrasas in the light of the rules applicable in the Department of Secondary Education and Basic Education. (ANI)
