A policeman and a militant have been killed, while three army personnel and two civilians were injured in an ongoing encounter between militants and security forces in Parivaan area of south Kashmir’s Kulgam district, officials said on Wednesday.
J&K Police quoted IGP, Kashmir Zone, Vijay Kumar as tweeting, “One Police Personnel Sergeant Rohit Chhib attained martyrdom, 03 Army jawans injured. 02 civilians also received minor injuries. #Terrorist organization 01 #terrorist of Jaish was killed.”
A joint team of police and security forces cordoned off the area and started a search operation on the basis of specific information about the presence of terrorists, exchange of fire broke out between the terrorists and the security forces.
As the security forces reached the spot where the terrorists were hiding, they came under heavy fire which triggered an encounter.
