Janmashtami 2022: Banks are closed today or tomorrow? Check holiday in your city

According to the holiday calendar list of Reserve Bank of India (RBI), most of the private and public sector banks across the country will remain closed on the occasion of Janmashtami. However, there is confusion regarding the date. Is it August 18th, August 19th or August 20th? The Reserve Bank of India (RBI) announced holidays for lenders under these categories – Negotiable Instruments Act, Holidays, Real-time Gross Settlement Holidays, and closure of accounts of banks.

Not only banks, there is confusion in government offices and educational institutions as well. Haryana The government has notified that August 19 will be observed as a holiday in government offices and educational institutions instead of August 18 on account of Janmashtami festival.

An official statement issued said, “August 19 will be observed as a gazetted holiday on account of the festival of ‘Festival’ in Government offices, boards and corporations, educational and other institutions under the Government of Haryana.Janmashtami‘ instead of August 18 as has already been notified.”

Banks will remain closed in many states across the country on August 18, 19 and 20 on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami. However, banks in Delhi and some other cities will not observe a holiday during Janmashtami.

Banks will remain closed on Thursday in Bhubaneswar, Dehradun, Kanpur and Lucknow.

Janmashtami Bank Holiday Tomorrow, 19th August

August 19: Janmashtami (Shravan Vad-8) / Krishna Jayanti (Friday)

Banks will remain closed in Ahmedabad, Bhopal, Chandigarh, Chennai, Gangtok, Jaipur, Jammu, Patna, Raipur, Ranchi, Shillong and Shimla.

August 20: Shri Krishna Ashtami (Saturday)

Since Hyderabad will celebrate the festival on August 20 as Krishna Ashtami, only banks in that area will remain non-operational. On the other hand, online banking services will continue to operate as normal.

Agartala, Aizawl, Belapur, Bengaluru, Guwahati, Imphal, Kochi, Kolkata, Mumbai, Nagpur, New Delhi, Panaji and Thiruvananthapuram
