Janmashtami 2022 | From dreams to ’emulating’ God, ‘Krishna Connect’ has a different tune in politics

On the occasion of Janmashtami, which is considered to be the birthday of the Hindu god Krishna, people across the country are celebrating. Various politicians have also greeted the citizens on this day, invoking the blessings of the Hindu God.

But would few people know that even in politics, Lord Krishna has always been in the headlines. From Krishna devout leaders who claim to have seen the Lord in their dreams to ‘give some message’, let’s take a look at our politics ‘Krishna Connect’:

‘I am Lord Krishna of Bihar politics’: Tej Pratap

When political developments were changing in Bihar, an old video of RJD leader and Lalu Prasad Yadav’s elder son Tej Pratap Yadav went viral on social media. In the video, Tej Pratap claimed that the “no-entry” board for the former Bihar CM and JD(U) leader has been replaced with the “Entry Nitish Chacha Ji” board.

He also claimed that ever since he put up the board, Nitish Kumar Have met them, and thus a government will be formed. “It’s a secret,” Tej Pratap claimed, “I had a secret conversation with Nitish ji.”

Tej Pratap also described himself as Lord Krishna of Bihar politics. “There are a lot of ups and downs in politics. Power can change at any time.”

Politicians of Indian origin abroad

British Conservative leader Rishi Sunak, who is vying for the post of prime minister in Britain after the fall of Boris Johnson, also took Krishna’s blessings ahead of Janmashtami. Sharing a picture on Instagram, Sunak said, “Today I went to Bhaktivedanta Manor temple with my wife Akshata to celebrate Janmashtami, ahead of the popular Hindu festival celebrating the birthday of Lord Krishna.”

He is not the only politician from abroad who has sought the blessings of the Hindu God. In the US, Tulsi Gabbard, the first Hindu parliamentarian from the United States, spoke about the importance of the Bhagavad Gita on the occasion of Krishna Janmashtami in 2020. The leader has often been seen attending and participating in ISKCON events.

“2020 is definitely a year that will not be forgotten. For most, if not all of us, it has brought many unexpected changes. Changes in our daily routines, our work, and even our relationships. But whenever we are put in difficult situations, it gives us an opportunity to take shelter in the loving protection of the Supreme Lord, our best friend. It prompts us to reflect on and draw upon the lessons learned from the past, as well as to consider what changes we can make to live a better life now and in the future,” she had said .

Gabbard recalled his time in the Middle East, ‘where danger awaited him at every turn’ and new uncertainties awaited him every day. According to the MLA, he had taken refuge in the Bhagavad Gita. “The Lord’s Song, as Sri Krishna said, is full of divine wisdom that is as relevant today as it was 5,000 years ago,” she said.

‘Dream Connect’

And in an interesting turn of events ahead of the UP assembly elections, some leaders claimed that Lord Krishna had come in their dreams to deliver the message. In January this year, BJP’s Rajya Sabha MP Harnath Singh Yadav claimed that Lord Krishna came in his dreams and told him that CM Yogi Adityanath should contest the assembly elections from Mathura. The MP on Monday wrote a letter to BJP President JP Nadda urging him to declare Yogi as the party’s candidate in the constituency.

According to Yadava, Lord Krishna appeared twice in his dream on a terrible night and asked him to become “Madhyastha” (mediator) and conveyed the message that it was his wish for Yogi to run for office from Mathura. “I immediately sent a letter to Nadda ji,” he said, adding that “Yogi ji himself had said that we cannot give up the work of Krishna Janmabhoomi, especially after our success in Ayodhya and Kashi.”

Around the same time, the president of the Samajwadi Party Akhilesh Yadav He also claimed that Lord Krishna used to come every night in his dreams and tell him that he would form the government and establish “Ram Rajya” in Uttar Pradesh.
