Aquaman star Jason Momoa has apologized for taking pictures inside the Sistine Chapel during a trip to Italy. The 42-year-old actor is currently shooting for “Fast X”, the 10th episode of the “Fast and Furious” film saga in Rome. The actor posted pictures of himself beneath the famous Michelangelo painting that adorns the walls and ceiling of the chapel on May 9. In the caption, he wrote, “What a beautiful start to our day to enjoy I love you Italy Roma.”

Fans quickly pointed out in the comments that visitors are generally forbidden from taking photos or videos at the chapel, which is located in Vatican City.

On Saturday, Momoa posted another video in which he addressed the controversy – after a brief workout.

After setting the dumbbells he said, “It’s my last day in Rome, and I love you and Italy. If you ever thought I disrespected your culture, that was not my intention.”

He mentioned that when he was 19 or 20, he first went to the Vatican and the Sistine Chapel. For the current trip, he provided a “donation” so that his friends and crew members from the film could join him on holidays from shooting. “Fast X.”

“I found that people really wanted to take pictures with me,” he said. “I was so honored and asked permission for what I thought was possible. I never want to do anything to insult anyone’s culture. So if I did, I’m sorry. I certainly didn’t care about that private moment.” Paid for it and made a nice donation to the church.”
