JEE Main result 2021: NTA detains 20 students for cheating in engineering admissions

National Testing Agency (NTA) has banned a total of 20 students for cheating in JEE Main 2021. A total of 10,48,012 candidates appeared in the examination, out of which 47 secured 100 percentile.

A total of 20 candidates have been debarred from appearing in future examinations for a period of three years, due to using “unfair means”. Their results have also been withheld,” NTA said in a statement, The Print reported.

comes after JEE Main scam exposed in which an examination center in Sonepat, Haryana A coaching center – was hacked by Affinity Education. The Center allegedly took Rs 15 lakh from the students and solved the question paper while the exam was going on through remote access. The Center assured the candidates that they will get a seat in one of the National Institute of Technology (NIT).

It is not yet known how many Debard students are involved in this scam. The CBI had conducted several raids in connection with the scam, including in Delhi-NCR, Indore, Pune, Bengaluru and Sonepat.

Two directors of Affinity Education were earlier arrested by the CBI. Later, it arrested seven more, including two lab technicians, an assistant professor and a peon, all working in a private college of engineering in Sonepat and also associated with Affinity Education.

The CBI in its investigation has found that the exam console and computer at the Sonepat center were hacked and controlled remotely from places like Jamshedpur in Jharkhand.

The candidates were demanding a re-examination and a thorough investigation into the matter. Among them there is one candidate who cheated in the exam and the other seven helped him in doing so. The candidate had to pay Rs 30 lakh to the accused.
