Jeep brings seven new concepts to the 2022 Easter Safari

The concepts are based on the Wrangler, Gladiator and the new Grand Cherokee, with changes to the SUV’s length and wheelbase and mechanical upgrades.

Jeep revealed seven new concepts for the 2022 Jeep Easter Safari including the second all-electric Wrangler concept in two years. The seven concepts included five models from Jeep and two accessorized concepts from Jeep Performance Parts. Last year’s Jeep Magneto concept made way for the Magneto 2.0, an even more powerful Wrangler EV, while Jeep also played with the car’s length and wheelbase for some concepts. let’s take a look.

Jeep Wrangler Magneto 2.0 Concept

Compared to the 2021 Safari’s Magneto concept, Magneto 2.0 is not only more powerful but also longer. Jeep extended the wheelbase of the regular two-door Wrangler as well as gave it a lift kit and outfitted it with 20-inch wheels wrapped in massive 40-inch tires. Other cosmetic changes include custom bumpers, carbon-fiber fender flares, prominent bonnet bulges and blue styling elements such as body graphics, toe hooks and seat center upholstery. Power and torque are up a significant 285 bhp and 370 Nm to 625 bhp and 1,152 Nm as compared to the 2021 Magneto. There’s even a manual gearbox to send power to all four wheels!

Yes, Jeep actually calls the concept Bob and it’s not wrong! Based on the Gladiator, the Bob Concept features a smaller bed with custom bumpers, largely flared wheel arches, no doors and a cargo-bed mounted spare wheel. Under the hood, Jeep’s familiar 3.0-litre V6 diesel engine has been upgraded with a new Mopar air intake. Other upgrades include new Dynatrack Pro-Rock 60 axles, upgraded springs and dampers, a lift kit, and 20-inch wheels wrapped in 40-inch tires.

Jeep ’41 Concept

The 41 concept is a throwback to the original Willys Jeep from World War 2. Based on the Wrangler 4xe finished concept that looks military green – including 17-inch wheels – the north comes with a fabric roof and powder coated bumpers. There’s also a winch on the front in case you get stuck. The concept also gets a smaller lift kit and sits on 35-inch mud-terrain tyres. The seats are also covered in canvas as a throwback to the original.

Jeep Wrangler Rubicon 20th Anniversary Concept

Jeep first used the Rubicon name on the Wrangler for the 2003 model year, with the 2023 model marking its 20th anniversary. One of the more stable concepts here, finished in the Rubicon Gray paint, gets 2-inches of lift from Jeep performance parts and 17-inch Mopar wheels. Other enhancements include a new exhaust, custom hood scoop and a power folding soft-top. The concept is powered by a Hemi V8 from the Rubicon 392.

Jeep Grand Cherokee Trailhawk PHEV Concept

The Grand Cherokee Trailhawk is another rather terraced concept, which comes with a custom roof rack, custom fog light bezels and 20-inch gray finish wheels and 33-inch mud-terrain tyres. Part of the package is the disconnecting front self-bar (improved wheel articulation) to increase off-road capability. However, Jeep has not made any changes to the PHEV powertrain.

Jeep Birdcage from Jeep Performance Parts

The Birdcage is essentially a show and show about how you can soup up your Wrangler with aftermarket parts from the Jeep Performance Parts Bin. Accessories include custom bumpers, skid plates, a front winch, roll-cage mounted LED light vars, tail-lamp protectors and 17-inch bead lock wheels.

Where the Birdcage featured the accessorized Wrangler, the D-Coder is a souped-up gladiator. Jeep went to town on accessories – all in red – from the front bumper to wheels, snorkel and even tubular doors. Jeep says the D-coder is loaded with 35 aftermarket accessories and each also wears a QR code for easy access to information.
